Techiniques Used By The Masseuse

If you have decided to have a massage, you have many different techniques from which to use. Many massage therapists specialize in one or two different methods of massage. This article will tell you the different methods of massage and give you a brief overview of them.

Swedish Massage
With this technique the therapist will use kneading combined with long gliding strokes and beating. The method is a combination of ancient techniques from Greece, Rome and China.

Aromatherapy Massage
In this method the therapist will use scented oils, inscents or vaporizers to help relax the patient. The scents in combination of a traditional massage can be a powerful stress reducing combination.

Deep Tissue Massage
This is also known as a sports massage and is used regularly by professional athletes. It is designed to break up the scar tissue that develops in an athletes muscles. The therapist will use great pressure and will make long strokes along the length of the muscle. It can be quite painful but will do wonders for alleviating constant aches and will speed up an athletes recovery time.

Stone Massage
With this last technique the masseuse or masseur will place heated stones on the patients body. The gentle heat will soothe and relax the muscles which allows for them to be massaged easier.

Although there are other techniques, these are some of the more popular methods out there. I am sure you will enjoy any of these methods but choose the one that seems best to you or simply try them all one at a time. Either way you cannot go wrong with a good massage.
