Mind Control Concentration and Meditation for Self-ImprovementMind Control is essential to any approach to self-help or self-improvement. It is often presented in a negative light yet the tremendous benefits of controlling your mind as concentration and meditation have stood the test of time. What does it mean to concentrate and to meditate? Just as inhalation and exhalation are two phases of the wave of your breathing called respiration, concentration and meditation are complimentary phases of the wave of seeing. Concentration is the phase of seeing that has a localized focus. A quick visit to the self-help or self-improvement section of any bookstore confirms how highly experts in every field value concentration as it appears in the title of many of their works. When you study these books you learn that they all agree, you get what you focus on. Meditation is the phase of seeing that naturally flowers when concentration is relaxed; it is the direct means of connecting with your deeper intelligence. You cannot try to meditate because trying is focusing and that is concentration. Meditation is more challenging than concentrating as it asks that you allow your mind to be silent, yet alert it is the default phase of seeing wherein your being is seeing. In fact this phase of seeing is so challenging for most folks that masters of wisdom have developed a variety of techniques that help you to silence your mind. How do you know which phase of seeing to use at a particular time? Use the phase that is appropriate to the moment. Every wisdom tradition teaches concentration and meditation by linking them to the flow of your breath. Breathing is the central current of your being; it is the link between your mind and body; it is more subtle than your body and more gross your mind. Breathing clearly follows (and shows you) the laws of Natural Order. For example you cannot take the next breath until you give the present one away. In this light you see that concentration is like inhalation as both represent a converging or localized focusing of energies, and meditation is like exhalation as both represent the relaxation of the concentrated focus whereby a non-localized seeing unfolds. Thus you control your mind-body by concentrating when you want to focus and bend your energies to a single point or task; and you meditate when you have exhausted what you know and you want to connect with the deeper intelligence of your Source that is all knowing. The wider message here is that all things have the same wave nature of complimentary phases as positive and negative, inhalation and exhalation, concentration and meditation, and so on. Accordingly when you explore other self-help, self-improvement and personal growth techniques you now know how to be fully informed of them by using both concentration and meditation - just as you do to explore both phases of mind control." About the Author What is meditation?
Meditation usually refers to a state in which the body is consciously
relaxed and the mind is allowed to become calm and focused. Several major
religions include ritual meditation; however, meditation itself need not
be a religious or spiritual activity. Most of the more popular systems of
meditation are of Eastern origin, though there exists also various forms
of Christian, Jewish and Muslim meditation.
