Giving in Just a Little to Cravings Does Not Work - Do this First!

How many of you have read this dieting adviceif you eat just one or two small bites of (insert favorite snack here), you will satisfy your hunger and be able to stay on your dietNot!

This is actually true for a minority of people but a special condition needs to exist before you arrive at a place where one little taste will satisfy and you can stop eating.

For the rest of us, its all about fighting the urge to ingest an entire bag of potato chips, or chocolate chip cookies or butter pecan ice cream once we open the package. Just one little taste could send us over the edge; our emotions take over and we just cant stop ourselves until its all gone. We figure that if we eat it all now, it cant keep calling us from the pantry or freezer. And well never buy that evil food again. You and I know thats a lie.

So how to stop the cravings? You have to begin with the root of the problem.

Believe it or not, when your body begins its cycle of cravings, its actually calling out for nutrition. Your body needs something that is contained in the food you are eating; that something is energy. But because its a quick fix full of empty calories, the energy you get from eating junk isnt pure and it doesnt last long. You know it and your body does, too. Plus, the pure physical pleasure from eating something that satisfies your taste buds (ooh, the smooth texture of chocolate, the salty crunch of potato chips, the sweet bliss of ice cream) makes it difficult to stop.

Oh, sure, nutrition. I just need to eat fruit when I get cravings, then, right? Wrong! That doesnt work either and you know why? Because its too little, too late. You have to start way back with what youre eating every day.

Unfortunately, eating fruits and vegetables does not guarantee that you are getting all the nutrition you need to be healthy. For one thing, there are certain minerals that you cant get from your food; you must take them in your body somehow. Plus, the fruits and vegetables we get in our grocery stores today, even organic ones, dont have the nutrition that it should because our farming soil has been so depleted from over-production.

Well, okay, you say Ill just take a supplement. Well, unfortunately, your body can only absorb at best 10% of the nutrients that are in traditional pill supplements because of the way they are made.

One alternative that is gaining popularity is to take a liquid vitamin supplement but they are not created equal either. For a liquid vitamin supplement to be absorbed properly, it has to be produced in a certain way for the body to absorb it. There are some liquid vitamin and mineral supplements in the marketplace that are readily absorbed by your bodys cells. Do your research thoroughly and pick the one thats right for you.

So how does this affect cravings for diet busters like chocolate, ice cream and potato chips? If your body is getting the nutrition it needs, your body is "craving" the right foods anyway and your cells work properly. As a result, you will always have a store of clean, pure energy available and cravings dont happen. If they do, yes, you can have one simple bite or two of your favorite guilty pleasure and stop with no problem. You will have control of your food.
